Post Covid Hair Loss

Many patients have noticed hair loss after a viral infection, fever, or COVID-19 infection.  This condition is called Telogen Effluvium.

This is when instead of 10% of our hair sheds in the resting phase, over 50% starts shedding. 

Generally, this hair loss is self-limiting and stops after 3-6 months.  Eventually, hair starts to regrow, although it may not be noticeable at first.  Reassurance and stress management is how we would manage this situation.  Medication is not necessary at this point.
