Every day our body is exposed to high levels of dangerous toxins. Vitamin C: Linus Pauling a noble price winner knew the important role Vitamin C played in the body. Vitamin C is water soluble and is essential in production of collagen and norepinephrine. Collagen is the building block for skin, blood vessels, bones, and ligaments. Norepinephrine is an important neurotransmitter important for brain function and stabilizing mood. Vitamin C also plays an important role in production of energy and metabolism of cholesterol. It is an excellent antioxidant and prevents cancer.

Glutathione: Glutathione is a free radical scavenger. In Parkinson's Disease or any other neurologic disorder free radicals destroy neurons, so anything that limits free radicals can slow down the disease. Glutathione also increases the sensitivity of brain receptors to dopamine. We have seen eighty to ninety percent improvement in patients with Parkinson’s disease because Glutathione allows the dopamine in the brain to be more effective. Glutathione also increases the sensitivity to serotonin, which may explain why many of our depressed patients have a remarkable improvement in their symptoms. Glutathione is also effective in treatment of Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, Multiple Sclerosis, and Stroke.

MSM: MSM is methylsulfonylmethane which provides sulfur to joints, skin, hair, nails, and cartilage and methyl which is used in biochemical pathways which produce energy. Clinical research has shown MSM is safe and effective in increasing joint comfort and function. It is also anti inflammatory and is excellent in subsiding arthritic pain and inflammation. MSM is taken in smaller amounts as an oral supplement and higher doses intravenously. Sport injury, Osteoarthritis, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Fibromyalgia, Colitis, and Crohn’s disease can benefit greatly from intravenous MSM.

Chelation Therapy: Chelation is an intravenous therapy of vitamins, minerals and EDTA. EDTA is a synthetic protein that is slowly infused intravenously and binds to metal ions in the blood vessels and arteries. Metals are carried to the kidneys and are excreted. It is a highly effective treatment for heavy metal poisoning such as lead and mercury. Heavy metal detoxification has been associated with improvement in cardiovascular disease. Currently a double blinded study called TACT is in progress by National Institute of Health to evaluate the efficacy of Chelation in treatment of Cardiovascular disease. It would be exciting to have more factual information about Chelation and treatment of heart disease. At this time, however, Chelation is used empirically for treatment of vascular problems. It acts as a calcium channel blocker and lowers blood pressure and improves circulation dramatically. Patients with peripheral vascular disease (poor circulation in the extremities) have claimed to have less pain in the effected limbs after receiving Chelation Intravenously. Patients with Angina (chest pain) have also claimed to have less symptoms and improvement in their quality of life. It is important to keep in mind that until further studies are performed conventional therapy is necessary in some cases and not every individual is a candidate for Chelation therapy.
